NVIDIA has Soup with chips

London, England, 27th February 2001

UK based games and technology developer Synaptic Soup announced today that press and OEM representatives would have their first chance to see the recently announced Crazy Car Championship as part of NVIDIA's GeForce3 graphics processing unit (GPU) unveiling.

Crazy Car Championship is a character based driving game that sees players building hybrid vehicles from weird and wonderful components. Races take place upon a series of flying islands and the game sees everything from steam-powered hovercrafts to Quantum powered hot-rods competing in a no holds barred power-up-fest where frenetic gameplay and stunning scenery vie for the players attention.

The title is powered by Synaptic Soup's Cipher engine, which uses state of the art technology to deliver a one-stop solution to next-generation game development across multiple platforms. Although still in the early stages of development, NVIDIA picked Crazy Car Championship to appear alongside a number of near complete titles.

Rik Heywood, Technical Director at Synaptic Soup, commented "Cipher has been built from the ground up to take advantage of the current and next wave of gaming hardware. It is geared towards delivering high-tech, high-impact titles across multiple platforms in the minimum of time. Even so, it was a great endorsement when NVIDIA chose the first Cipher powered title, Crazy Car Championship, to showcase their GeForce3 GPU."

Kevin Strange, Developer Relations Account Manager for NVIDIA commented, "We were very impressed by how well positioned Synaptic Soup were to take advantage of our leading edge technologies and how fast they were able to turn our discussions into demonstrable software with their Cipher engine."

SOUPED-UP ENGINE REVEALED

London, England, 9th October 2000

Synaptic Soup, the company formed from the core Evolva team and ex-Bullfrogger's, revealed today the first of its ongoing projects, Cipher.

Cipher is a complete solution for creating state of the art games on the next generation of consoles, the PC, Macs and Linux. Enabling simple cross-platform development at a fraction of the time and cost of traditional methods and the ability for cross-platform multiplayer gaming, Cipher is generating strong developer and publisher interest.

Besides extensive rendering and multiplayer support, Cipher offers audio, animation, localisation, customisation, debugging and server based technologies to deliver a one-stop solution to next generation game development.

Due for an official rollout in Q1 2001 it is already shipping to limited key developers and publishers.

Rik Heywood, Technical Director for Synaptic Soup commented "With constantly spiralling development costs and confusion as to who will win the next console war we want to offer a low risk solution to developers for creating the next generation of software. With Cipher, developers not only get access to powerful technology but they dramatically reduce their development times. With our multi-format support any game written using Cipher will automatically work on any platform we port it to. Difficult platform decisions can be left to the last moment when one or all of the platforms can be targeted."

Cipher is being used to drive Synaptic Soup's first game, which is in the early stages of development. An announcement on this title is expected soon.
